Actually, as described by a sartain writer fri'nd of mine, Hector is "a tall hound of black and yellow spots, with white belly and legs. That dog is more to be trusted than many a Christian man, for he never forgets a friend and loves the hand that gives him bread." Howsever, I wouldn't try to give him hushpuppies, if I was you. Every time he hears "hushpuppies", he falls asleep immediately, which is quite a trick, since bein' verrrrry old,mostly what he does is sleep, anyway. Last time Sheriff Twigg and I took him hunting, I had to carry him most of the way, and Sheriff Twigg says the next time we'll hire a stretcher for him. Sartain, he's a quiet pup, and I been thinkin' I might give him to Alice as a pet she can handle without any trouble. I think I'll just bring along his favorite old bearskin, and let him snooze under the porch while we all socialize.
