This is Arden O'Hurley with the news of the week.
A complete CPU melt down has left the Hurley family cut off from the cyberspace world of Mohicanland for more than two week now. The problem has been turned over to specialists in the field. Sources have told KLOTM that the melt down was a result of .exe files opened after being sent via Email from almost six months ago. The damage is
expected to take about a week to be back in full operation. The Hurleys are having to use CPUs of friends and are not able to receive Email. "I dont know how we survived before having CPUs", signed Sharon. "We sure feel lost without it but will be up and running soon. We have a lot of Emails to answer and catch up on what we've missed in Mohicanland."
No Casualties were reported.
After attending the Gathering of '99, The MBA has awarded Soldier #2 "in recognition of meritorious conduct involving highly dangerous and possibly foolhardy activities, including, but not limited to dragging Mohican Maniacs out to greet sunrises, up and down mountainsides, behind icy waterfalls, over treacherous highways & byways, and
into cool, dark cinema art houses, all the while providing informative commentary, moral support, PHYSICAL support, and much laughter and friendship!"
When KLOTM contacted Soldier #2 about the award, he had this to say...
"This is beyond belief. I have received so many cards and words of thanks for what I feel as being myself. Then the award was overwhelming. Words alone can't express my feeling of gratitude. It is my greatest hope that I rub off, as to speak, on as many people
as I can. The earth is only so big and we all must live on her, together. When people can give of themselves unselfishly, she is able to turn with less resistance. Coexistence, harmony unselfishness and love are daily words that we all must live by." Soldier #2 went on
to say that "Tears of joy are felt each and every time he thinks of his Mohican family." #2 also received a donation in an undisclosed amount which will be forwarded to the Soldier Childrens Scholarship Fund.
In other News,
Members of the Hurley family were reported applying for parts in the new motion picture "The Patriot", starring Mel Gibson. Eric, Sharon and Leslie arrived at Windrop University in Rock Hill, SC aboard the Moby Dick around 12 noon on Saturday, July 17th. After standing in line for two and a half hours in the SC heat, they were able to
enter the arts building and into the auditorium. Members of the casting crew explained that they were looking for men, women and children of all ages for background extras. They explained that a military core which will serve for the foreground war scenes and will
be needing men between the ages of 16 to 35. They are also in need of children in the form of twins for parts of the filming. The military core will begin training August. 23, 1999 and will run for two weeks. Filming will begin on September 6th and will finish on December 16th of the same year. Shirley Crumbly, casting director for The Patriot was overheard in a discussion with Eric stating that with his background of training and experience in the motion picture The Last of the Mohicans he will be given a part in the military core. Ms. Crumbly was also the casting director for The Last of the Mohicans
which was filmed in 1991 in Morganton, NC.
Mr. Hurley was reported saying that he has not made up his mind as to whether or not he will except the part. "There are so many things to consider....Will my boss give me the time off? Will my job be there when I finish? How will I manage the children? Will I drive home everyday or sleep on or near film location? I meet with the casting company on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. to discuss this further. I will hopefully make a decision by that time."
Mr. Hurley stated that if he accepts the role that exclusive rights will be given to KLOTM on a daily basis on the films progress.
No word has been given as to whether Sharon or Leslie have been accepted at this time.
