: I never watched more than 10 minutes of that series as I can't get past Ms. Wonder Woman....but Mary filled me in whether I liked it or not! (She's hard to ignore.)
: A mini-series based on the tales would be interesting; however, after slogging through 9/10's of one of Cooper's books; (I'm afraid to try the rest...)(I'm moving fast and ducking, Gayle!!) I would not know how one could make a fast paced, exciting 1999 type of series out of it! Even Marcia raffled her LOTM book; smart move!
: No, seriously, an interesting idea; but who would play the roles.....??? Another subject we've dealt with a few times..always an interesting one, also.
: There was also a PBS Hawkeye thing years and years ago my hubby remembers, but never have found much info on that one.

HI, Jo -
The Cooper book which would make a good 1999 fast paced series would be "Precaution". This novel about several English families trying to get their daughters married off is not only funny as h---, it has to be the prototype of the first great American soap opera. It has all the intricacies and jealousies and cads and skullduggery and back-handing and innocent maidens and not-so-innocent maidens and manipulation and exchanging-partners scenarios that shows like General Hospital and All My Children could possibly accommodate, plus a fairy-tale ending that Cooper never stooped to in any other novel. The Leatherstocking Tales offer NOTHING compared to "Precaution"!
