: Good show, Mike, and WELCOME back! Of course I remember you! You'd be surprised; there are others here who'll remember you as well!
Thanks for the Welcome Back, Rich. It's funny -- I hadn't even thought about this site in a long time, and then I heard the LOTM theme during the Wimbledon broadcast, and it all came flooding back. I wish I could have attended the Gathering. I'm amazed at how big it was.
: I agree whole-heartedly with both you & Susan as to the effect of the field of Gettysburg, particularly the site of Pickett's Charge, on one's soul. Standing where a North Carolina regiment took cannon shot - point blank - so very close to their objective, is an awe-inspiring place! It makes my eyes well up just typing the words here at my computer ...
It's very erie. The ground just looks... "wrong," somehow. I can't really explain it. The locals around there talk as if it just happened recently, too. Everyone has a story about their great-great-whatever Grandma feeding the retreating Confederates, or treating the wounded, or something. I went to school with Weikerts and Trostles, whose old farms are on the battlefield (no longer in their families, although the Culp farm is).
: Hope you peek in on the doings now & again!
I shall. Thanks again.
Humbly yours,
Mike Zeares
