: Howdy folks, I have just gotten back from Townsend, Tenn. where I attended an event called Christyfest (similar to the Gathering, for people who love the short-lived tv series Christy). I was in an autograph line for one of the main actors from the show when I mentioned something about LOTM. The man in front of me pointed out a man a few feet away and told me this man had worked on LOTM as a scenic artist. I quickly left line and introduced myself and asked about his work on Mohicans. One of the first things he mentioned was the directors cut. He said the film had originally been 4 hours long and had been hacked down to 2 hours. The directors cut should be out soon (just how soon he didn't know), but it definitely would have much more of the Uncas and Alice love story. The uncut version had threads of that love story throughout the film, so you understood much better why Uncas was willing to fight to the death for this "one with the moon in her hair". I asked about working with Eric Schweig-great, a wonderful guy. He had a great time with Wes Studi-he was very fearsome looking in full makeup! Had breakfast several times with Maddy and thought DDL was super to work with also. He talked about the falls scene and the INTENSE pressure they were under to get the shooting done that last day. The artists name was Richard Whitney and he was very friendly, very willing to talk about the projects he had worked on. He travels a lot and though he carries a laptop, he doesn't use it very often for e-mail or surfing the net. He was aware there was a website for LOTM, but hadn't gotten the chance to look at it yet. He gave me his business card and told me to e-mail him in a week or two, when he should be settled for a bit, and give him the address of this site. He might post on the board and could possibly be able to answer some questions.

Alysha,
You made my day -
A four hour uncut version of LOTM?!!! Nothing has made me this happy since BEFORE I found out I couldn't go to the gathering.
I will go buy a DVD machine just to watch it, if I have to.
The often lurker, seldom posting -
Dar
