: Hey, fellow Mohicanites!
: I've started my official countdown to LOTM Gathering II. Have you? (what a stupid question, right?) lol:
Yes, Indeed! Two weeks, from right now, as I type, the golden sun will be peeking over the tops of the mighty Blue Ridge Mountains, spreading hues of gold & red across the brightening sky, and making visible the cottony fog nestled in the bosom of the folding ridgelines before us! The chill of the late Spring morning air ... a hot thermos of coffee ... and you guys ... Just about perfect! Unless, of course, its raining!!! Perish the thought!
I know a lot of you are spending Thursday traveling great distances to get here ... to MohicanLand. You're going to be tired. Those of you staying at The Bunkhouse, well ... that's hardly gonna be conducive to sleep, I can well imagine. And then, it's a LONG drive from CR Village to the Blue Ridge Parkway, so ... I always figured not TOO many of us would actually begin the '99 Gathering AT the Opening & Closing Vistas at the God-awful hour of 5:15AM! But, consider this ... For many, this whole week-end will be a once-in-a-lifetime event. You may very well never step in North Carolina again, no less attend a Great Mohican Gathering! Attend every event! Savor every moment! When it's all said and done, you'll be satisfied that you did everything! It only hurts for a minute, as you drag your weary bones out of bed! In response to my query as to how many Gatherers planned to be there, one said:
"I plan to be there -- wouldn't miss it for the world!" Good! Another?
"Rest... or sunrise... rest... or sunrise ... rest... or sunrise... Decisions decisions. Oh what the heck. Count me in. Count me in for everything!"
Good Choice! So far, I would think that maybe a dozen crazies will be silhouetted against that morning sky two weeks from now. Hope more will join us!
Please let us know, if you haven't already, whether you'll be at the second scheduled rendezvous, Louise's Famous Rock House, for breakfast at 7:45AM before heading to the Linville Falls area. The folks at Louise's are in need of an approx. head count. Thanks!
Elaine & I might be somewhat transparent this weekend ... son's graduation & Grandparents in town. Will be back soon!
