Last of the Mohicans, both the novel & the film, is ultimately about the legacy of the clash of cultures. So much of the discussions on this board revolve about this legacy, for better or worse. I thought some may find the following quote an interesting perspective to think about. It is taken from "Memories Of A Metis Woman" by Alvena Strasbourg. (Thanks to my GOOD friend for this book!)
"My heritage is the combination of many cultures, their traditions, philosophies, strengths, and mistakes. I suppose I could blame the clash of these cultures for the hardship and tragedy in my life. If so, then I must also credit them for the laughter, the music, and the love. But I believe in fate. I believe that destiny awaits us from birth. All we can do is play it out, gaining some strength and wisdom along the way. This is my heritage to my children, this is my story."
