Hi All!
For those of you planning on attending the 1999 Great Mohican Gathering, we have some FANtastic news!
Today, we have finally received confirmation that we will, once again, be able to include a big screen showing of "The Last of the Mohicans" as part of the package. It had looked somewhat gloomy there for a bit. There is good news and bad news to all of this. Here goes:
The Bad: Tickets will be significantly more costly this year than the mere $5 at last year's showing. The cost will be directly proportional to the number of folks attending. Obviously, the more that come, the cheaper they will be. No matter what, it will be high. More details on that, including the whys, to come.
The Good: We have reserved an Arts Cinema in Hendersonville (not too far from where we'll be earlier that day, The River Walk locations). The theatre seems to be much more suitable to our needs. It is situated in the old Skyland Hotel. The hotel's ballroom is now the theatre. It will be open to us alone. They serve pizza, beer, wine, wine coolers and the usual theatre fare. Doors will open for us about 45 minutes before showtime, making it possible for one to eat dinner there. We can mingle in the huge lobby before hand, time permitting. There is a Tea Room off the lobby, an art gallery upstairs. So, we can arrive early - avoiding last year's mad rush! Though that wasn't entirely OUR fault!! - and have something to do. The theatre owner was most accommodating! I think we're in for a REAL treat this year.
Since we can't give an EXACT ticket price, we will work out a plan for accepting ticket purchases and will announce that on The Gathering Page in the near future (after further discussions with our Advisory Committee :)!!)
The important thing, for the moment, is that it WILL happen again! "Mohicans" in MohicanLand! What more can one ask for?
As I said, the Gathering Page will be updated soon to reflect this, and other, new information. In the meantime, you might want to mosey on over there now if you haven't yet been there ...
