It has been brought to my attention that, among other things, I was being insensitive & disrespectful to someone I claim to think highly of (Eric Schweig) by the tone and "in-your-face" attitude of my post about a possible - maybe, PROBABLE - reason for Eric's '92 interview sounding so negative at times ...

>: Keep in mind, however, that Eric freely admits being drunk most of that time. In fact, he says he has never been on a set sober! SO ... take it all with a grain of salt.<

Let me explain, briefly, in case any of you are of the same opinion.

When we interviewd Eric, it was HE who brought up his drinking problem for all the world to read. In fact, it was one of the VERY FIRST things he mentioned. It was HE, later on, who mentioned the fact that if he were to gain the part he was seeking at the time, it would be the first time he would be on a set "abstaining." Off the record, he has brought it up many times. Seems to me, one of the keys to recovery from this problem - or ANY problem - is recognition. Eric certainly has reached, and passed, that phase.

The fact that I bring it up here, IN THE SAME FORUM (OUR WEB SITE) THAT HE HIMSELF BROUGHT IT UP PUBLICLY, does not mean I am belittling, attacking, putting down, making fun of ... or any other negative you can think of ... Eric Schweig. I don't follow that logic, especially in light of the fact that I brought it up in his defense.

There is little doubt that alcohol changes perception & judgment. There is little doubt that Eric was drinking at that period of his life. Putting two & two together, and comparing the result with his obviously changed attitude, not only in the more recent interview, but overall, and I feel that clearly my comments were correct.

It is no crime to have had a drinking problem. There's not one of us out there who doesn't have his faults. Eric is no different. He's one of us, and I truly believe that he prefers it that way.

By the way, I'm not saying that Eric necessarily has changed his POSITION on any of the topics discussed, merely the manner in which he delivers them.

I hope this clears up any misconceptions ... Our feelings about Eric can be found publicly on this Web Site.
