Compatriots,
We need your help. After a long, hard struggle we have finally won. I
am speaking of the site of the Sand Creek massacre. Senator Ben Nighthorse
Campbell (R-CO) has introduced a bill that will lead to creating a National
Park at the site.
During the Civil War the Union Third Cavalry led by the notorious Col.
Chivington, attacked the peaceful Cheyenne village of Black Kettle. His Union
troops massacred more than 200 American Indians, two-thirds of whom were
women and children. The bodies of the dead were mutilated beyond recognition.
At the time of the attack the American flag and a white flag was flying over
the camp.
Last year we were able to get the site of the Battle of the Wash*ta
turned into a National Park. It was this massacre by Lt. Col. Custer that
eventually led to his demise at the Little Big Horn.
