: I just stumbled here today and was completely refreshed. I hooked up my stereo to the TV and bought the letterbox version of LOTM. Just after watching it at full volume (an awesome experience) I went to the computer to see what I could find, and what a pleasant surprise! I thought I was the only die-hard fan out there.
: Here are three questions which could provoke some discussion (sorry if they have been brought up in the past, this is day #1 for me):
: 2. Has anyone seen the Don Troiani painting "Battle at Bushy Run"? Although it involves a completely different regiment in Pennsylvania, it bears an uncanny resemblance to the George Rd Ambush.
>Eric,
Welcome. I'll let others answer questions #1 & #3, but in reference to your second question, I am quite familiar wih Troiani's painting of "Bushy Run", and the difference there, besides the fact that you have the 42d regiment of foot represented, is that unlike the George Road ambush, the Black Watch are on the offensive & taking it to the Indians [with the bayonet] who are retreating.
I like Troiani's work, as he does extensive research into his subjects, sometimes collecting notes over a course of years before he starts with the first brush stroke.
I wish he'd print his Civil War notes, not only does he have uniform & accouterment [etc] information, but he has little details, like what color a certain officers horse was on a given day!
