: Hi All;
: I was just thinking after watching "The Last of the Mohicans" for the billionth time, of other movies you all might enjoy that are "period pieces". Some of my favorite are, the TV-Movie "north and South" Books 1 & 2, (a wonderful story of two families, set before and during the Civil War.), another is "Gettysburg", it's a detailed account of the three days in the small town in southern Pennsylvania. ...And there is also the movie "1776".
: How do you all like these movies?...Have you even seen them?...
: Are there any other flicks in this genre that we all would enjoy?

Howdy Norm,
seen them & enjoyed them. A little known film that you might like is "Pharoh's Army". It is set in the hollers of the Cumberland mountain region during the early years of the War Between the States, about a lone woman & her son [Confederate sympathizers] forced out of one area by their neighbors [Unionists], so they return home & end up with unwanted company [a Union patrol] & the situation[s] that develop from this.... One of the most gritty & realistic portrayls I ever seen of the WBTS effects on civilians in a very divided region [my own kin fought a heated guerrilla war in that area]. My only gripe is that a couple Yankees are armed with brass framed Remingtons. Obviously due to budget, I'm sure, for the Union boys had steel framed revolvers. But other than that a very fine film. [I know a couple of college instructors on US history who even use it as a teaching aide!]...
I could go on, but I'll let someone else take the reins ;-)
I need to get back to working on my every expanding website.
