Here's a couple of programs coming up in March, on the History Channel, that might pique your interest:
Friday - 05
8:00/5:00 Lost Colony of Roanoke. In 1590, the governor of Roanoke
returned from England to its first New World colony to find all 117
settlers missing. The only clues: five chests of books and papers buried in the sand, and the word "Croatoan", a Native-American village to the south, carved on a post. Archaeologists search for the fate of the island's colonists. (cc) [TV G]
Wednesday - 10
8:00/5:00 Ishi: Last of His Kind. In 1911, Ishi, a member of the Yahi
Indians of California, walked out of the Stone Age and into modern
civilization. The Yahi were victims of an extermination campaign waged
by white settlers--the few survivors hid in isolated canyons for over 40 years. Ishi, the last known Yahi, became a human "exhibit" until his death in 1916. (cc) [TV G]
Enjoy 'em, if you can!
