: Thanks for the laugh! That was a precious two minutes, wasn't it? I think Deerslayer could not have done better than Judith Hutter. Her "gifts" were boundless. As for his reasons for not marrying her, I would like to smack him across the nose with my "Brown Bess" just to get his attention and tell him a thing or two. Guess it was just old JFC putting his mores into Natty's head.

Have to go home for the weekend, so not much time to answer, but this a a subject well worth plumbing. Would Judith really have been happy with him? And was he really as dumbstruck as Cooper portrayed him, or was he just a guy who had his sights on his career?
