: A few notes before I get to The Gathering ...
: We've added a couple more sound files to the download page (more to come), and added an oft asked for file ... that is, the complete script as a generic text file. You can easily reformat it, as you see fit, once downloaded.
: The Director's Cut Drive is only going to be on for another 3 weeks or so. Please get to it now, if you haven't already!!! Our only hope for salvation is a last minute flood! Please utilize the direct feedback form to Fox, as well as sending out your letter to us!
: Thanks for the interest in the Mohican Press Marketplace ... we've added a few businesses, so look it over ... you may find something of interest, and, your patronage will help fellow Mohicanites!
: Also, the Book Store has been updated & expanded to two pages ... all this stuff can be accessed by returning to the Opening Page.
: And the Gathering '99 ... We have successfully nailed down plans to include a visit to the River Walk locations as part of our upcoming Gathering! Since 3 of the 4 waterfalls there are on private property, this will make this Gathering even more special. You simply can't visit these sites on your own. Here's the lowdown ...
: In an effort to minimize the criss-crossing of MohicanLand, and to establish some sort of "flow" to the 3 days, we've made some changes to the Gathering agenda. MMMM has gotten Chimney Rock Park to move us to Sunday. Saturday will now be occupied by The River Walk. Once owned by DuPont Corporation, the area is now the property of Sterling Diagnostic Imaging. This past summer, the state of NC purchased a tract of land from them for inclusion in their State Forest system. We were hopeful, and actually expecting, the LOTM locations to be a part of this transfer, but alas, 3 of the 4 waterfalls were retained by the corporation. However, throwing the mighty meat of Mohican Press around - ; ) - we were able to arrange the following for Saturday:
: We'll meet at the corporation grounds, where a guide will greet us and take us on a tour of the LOTM locations ... High Falls - very scenic, but not actually seen in the film - brief action was shot adjacent to them; Triple Falls - as The River Walk opens, we see these falls as the cast walks in front of them, and then climb along their side; & Bridal Veil Falls - JUST upstream is the location of The River Walk "proper"; plus, the actual falls are the scene of the entrance to the cave. It's all stikingly beautiful scenery. Then, we'll return to Triple Falls for a complimentary box lunch provided by Sterling! Following lunch, we can journey over to Hooker Mills Falls on our own, as these are now on the state land. Hooker Mills are the waterfalls that the canoes are SEEN plunging over.
: So, the Gathering will now follow a natural progression, beginning with a Sunrise on Friday morning and ending with a Bonfire on Sunday night. In between, there'll be all sorts of exhibits, numerous location visits and good comraderie ... the big screen showing, if we can pull it off, will be right in the middle, on Saturday night (the theater we're working with is in Hendersonville, not too far from the River Walk), and the climatic Cliff scenes will be the climax of our Gathering on Sunday (followed by the Bonfire at The Bunkhouse, right across the road). Sounds good to us!
: And, there's new stuff in the works! See you On The Trail ...
