Has such a lovely "whump".
It's not unusual for both RevWar and Civil War groups to take part in the parades here.
The downtown canyons make an excellent sounding chamber. The Bess makes those Civil War muskets sound wimpy by comparison.
: Hi Scott,
: Whoever buys the HMS Rose had better take VERY good care of her. I remember at Operation Sail 2000 in New London, we King's Rangers were asked to be there as they all sailed in. When the Rose went by, she fired off a swivel gun, and we gave a company volley as salute. We had our backs to Fort Trumbull at the time and so the sound of 5 muskets firing (double-loaded) amplified by the stone, was pretty significant. They returned the salute, and we fired again. Then they were past. Some time later, the crew came by and seeing us, asked where the cannon was. They had heard to "cannon" shots fired in response to their swivel guns. Hahaha, it was us with our backs to the stone!!
: What a fabulous ship. I hope she is in good hands.

: Rogers' Rangers, Rogerr' Own Coy.

: : I don't know how many Patrick O'Brian/Jack Aubrey/Stephen Maturin fans we have here, but I know we have at least one Russell Crowe fan.
: : I seems that Crowe has been cast as Aubrey in Peter Weir's upcoming film based on O'Brian's work. Although the movie appears to be based on "Master and Commander", the working title is from "Far Side of the World".
: : On a bittersweet note, the "HMS" Rose Foundation has sold the Rose to 20th Century Fox to play the part of HMS Surprise. The Rose was based just up the coast from me. The picture here is the Rose in NYC harbor in July 2000.
