First off, let me thank those of you who wished me birthday greetings, including Little Fairy ????, whoever that might have been. Someone's been keeping track of things here! Anyway, as some of you already know, 50 is quite a milestone! Feels weird, but not as bad as when I turned 30. That's probably not so traumatic in this day & age, but back then, it was, "Never trust anyone over 30!" Anyway, Theresa, THIS 50 year old man is feeling pretty broke down ...
:(
But, I did have a nice day with a great dinner and all of my kids gathered at the table - at the same time - a rare occurance! Plus, a very heartfelt conversation, long-distance, with Dear Old Mom.
So ... The Ultimate LOTM Props Display! What of it? Well, we had seriously contemplated offering it as a Grand Raffle prize at this year's Great Mohican Gathering, as some of you well know. The prohibitive cost of the total display, coupled with the logistics of getting it here from Idaho - with owner - and a few other things caused us to re-think that notion. In a mutual decision, between Roger & I, we have opted to attempt to sell it outright, via a Silent Auction-type thing, through the Mohican Press Web Site instead. I should add, there is NOTHING in this for me. Doing it strictly as a courtesy to Roger, though I will, probably, be buying a "souvenir" if the entire display doesn't go as one.
Let me repeat: This display is fantastic. All the items are exact, functional, reproductions of the original movie props made by the master craftsmen who designed & built them for the film ... a wide selection of guns, knives, clothing, and accoutrements are included. The entire collection is valued at well over $13,000.
So, it's expensive, but well-worth it to the right buyer - if he or she is out there. Realizing he or she may well NOT be, we're working it this way:
The entire display, with all boards, padding, photos, etc. is being offered up as a Silent Auction. If bids are received that we - Roger & I (mostly Roger) - feel are fair & reasonable, the entire display will be awarded to that person. In the event of a "tie," whoever placed their bid first will receive it. Buyer pays all shipping costs, as well.
However, similtaneous to this, we are accepting "claims" on the individual pieces. In the event that a fair and resonable offer is NOT made, the pieces will be sold off, at their value, to the first person to claim each item.
Preference WILL be given to bids on the entire display, and this whole thing will coincide with the Gathering, so you have till-mid June, or so, to get it done. All money will be due immediately following the Gathering.
There are some GREAT items in this collection ... if I could, I'd buy the whole thing right now! We did a piece, in our Musings, several years ago on this display, at: http://www.mohicanpress.com/mo06006.html
More complete details can be had by following the link below.
