: Well, howdy yourself, Bob!

thank you.

: It's not hard to be inspired by LOTM. Good luck with your time travel from medieval times to the colonial era.

: BTW---what did you do as a medieval reenactor? Were you King, Knight, servant, peasant, priest, or torturer? Did you joust? Did you jest? Did you save fair maidens? Slay dragons? Or were you the troll who guarded the bridge? (I once had to run away from one of those at a Renaissance fair! He wanted a kiss before I could cross----eeeeeeewwwww!) Do tell all!

well...most of my activity is centered around armoured combat. we do full contact armoured fighting in tournament styles as well as full scale battle. our biggest is Pennsic War held in southern PA every august. about 12000 show up for the week and the larger battles have about 2000 to a side. imagine the battles from Braveheart (just without the blood). not to mention the arts and sciences going on. as well as archery competitons. if anyone here know's Syke's Sutlery or Smoke and Fire, they both have booths there, along with about 150 other merchants. and the nightlife is legendary, lots of homebrew/drumming/dancing girls and boys.

my persona is 5th c. Byzantine calvary. which is amusing when you figure my wife does 1620's cavalier (we cover approx. 400-1600 AD.). i fight, she costumes. although i have made tunics at times.

i was a Prince. we hold office by right of arms. you win the tournament, you're in charge for six months. you set policy and give awards and have a grand ol' time. the tournaments can get pretty brutal. lots of deep bruising, sprains/strains. i was out for a year with a torn acl. but i'm sure almost any reenactor can tell you, it's all worth it. not to mention it's a good way to blow off steam from my job as a counselor for the criminally insane.

that's about it in a nutshell,

take care,

bob
