Consider This:
LOTM DVD "ORIGINAL" "TRUE" November 1999-Dolby, I've been told it is out of print. If anyone just bought one, it is probably the January 2001 release in anamorphic 2.35:1 with DTS. Was DTS around in November 1999? Ref. (www.amazon.com). I have the January 2001 release and the fine print does say 1999, but there are 2 versions and they both have different ASIN Numbers and different chapter lengths, Ref. (www.amazon.com).
Does one prefer the 2.35:1 format vs a 1.85:1. Letterboxes gain in width going from smallest on 1.66:1, large on 1.78:1, larger on 1.85:1, largest on 2.35:1. Aren't the producers are leaning towards the more dramatic/panaramic 2.35:1 now for their widscreen aspect ratio since they evidently feel most homes will have a 1.78:1 widscreen TV in them in the near future vs the old standard common 1.33:1.
I Love LOTM, any and all. And I gotem!!!!!
