Richard Federici responds!
: Hello. I am a fan of LOTM and I am very interested in coming to the
: gathering this year. However, I have two primary considerations which
: might be a problem.
Nothing cannot be worked out!
: 1)I do not have a car. There is a possibility that I may go with my
: brother, who does have a car. If not, I was wondering whether there were
: any buses from any of the airports to Chimney Rock.
That shouldn't pose a problem at all. In years past, there have always been volunteers to pick up "strays" [Hi, Ilse!!! :)] at the airport. Once in the area, car-pooling is the name of the game, so you'll always have a ride!
: 2) I am an observant Jew, and I will have to bring my own food, for the
: most part. Are there microwaves where we're staying?
Not sure about that, not even sure WHERE that might be, yet. If we stay a the Geneva, as we did last year, there are cooking facilities there.
: In addition, I cannot participate in the Gathering from Friday evening
: until Saturday evening (it being the Sabbath). Will we get back from
: rafting the Nolichucky before sunset Friday?
Another tough one, as we've never done this one before. I would imagine that the rafting would have to be over with well before dark. However, it is a long haul back from the Nolichucky River area to Chimney Rock Village.
: Sorry to have to introduce these considerations, but I want to know what
: the options are before I decide to go.
No problem, Ariel, we'll do whatever we can to help you out!
