tattoos?LOTR?deerslayer...

someone posted this same question a little while ago, but no one responded... so I'll ask it again.
does anyone know what the tattoos were on hawkeye (and the others for that matter), if the were authentic in design, and what those tattoos would mean, or represent.

also, is anyone excited to see Lord of the Rings?? it's got some LOTM in it... The character Aragorn (aka Strider) is basically Hawkeye with a sword.. in fact they wanted DDL to play the part, but he didn't want to commit to a two year shoot...

finally I'm about 3/4 of the way through Deerslayer...which is really a good book. right now, Deerslayer has the most beautiful girl he has ever seen, madly in love with him... but he has no clue, cause he's too busy loving Nature!!

I hope he snaps out of it soon....
