Well, I had quite an adventuresome day yesterday. I went with our fifth grade students to Alabama Frontier Days at Fort Toulouse and I must say it was a treat. So many reenactors and traders, Natives and encampments. I had the pleasure of meeting one of Clabair's French Trader friends, Msr. Jean Baptiste. A very interesting man, indeed and he had a little scoop on our friend Clabair, which will remain between us. Of course, I'm always open for negotiations...LOL!

It was a great day, beautiful blue sky, temps in the low 70's. While I believe that living history is the best teaching tool, when I go again, I'll go on a Saturday when there are no school buses and thousands of kids. Thousands is no exaggeration, either. They said through the course of the five day event they were expecting about 12,000 students, teachers and parents. The kids thoroughly enjoyed this and had many questions to ask the "teachers" who were there. But, I would like to have to opportunity to talk with those "teachers" and get to know more about all of this 1800 century stuff myownself. And, to the MacWilliams, there were some Scottish clans there as well.

If anyone is close by, do try to come next year. As I told Clabair, there is a French/Indian encampment in April. I'm not sure of the dates yet because they do not have their 2002 calendar in place. I'll keep all of you informed.

Just thought you might like to know about this. Have a nice weekend. Be safe, especially you Postal Workers!

Theresa
