: : : : : : : : Subject: Editorial from a Romanian newspaper
: : : : : : : : **Sent to me by my college roommate, the wife of a Major in the Air Force in Alabama
: : : : : : : : Diana S.
: : : : : : :
: : : : : : : WOW!!! Is that how we are being seen abroad? Maybe this is something else good that is coming from that horrible tragedy.
: : : : : : : C.
: : : : : : Chris, don't exaggerate. This is how you are being seen by the writer of an Editorial of a Rumanian newspaper.
: : : : : : Ilse
: : : : : ~~~~~~~~~~
: : : : : Diana, where in Alabama? And, Ilse, take another look.
: : : : : Theresa
: : : : : ~~~~~~~~~~~
: : : : Another look at what, Theresa? That editorial?
: : : : Ilse
: : : ~~~~~~~
: : : You could start there with the editorial. Then come on over and see for yourself what's going on here. Or you can check with Adelle when she gets back from her trip. I don't want to get into a word battle here, you can understand, I'm sure, that things are somewhat tense and we get a little sensitive when our world has been blown to bits and our patriotism is called into question.

: : And it seems to me this writer in this Romanian newspaper has quite a way with words. And it seems to me that Romanians and some other Eastern Europeans might have a special perspective in looking on a country that has many precious freedoms, considering they were without them for so long. The writing is a little flowery, but I appreciate the man or woman's sentiments. Considering what his country has been through -- anybody here remember Ceaucescu?
: : As an American, and one with a great deal of Eastern European blood in me as well, I enjoyed these words.

: Theresa, Christina,
: Chill out, ok? You have missed my point completely. It might or might not be an enjoyable read, depending on one's own opinions (if those are still acceptable here), but it was the reaction "is that how we are seen abroad" to an editorial in some Rumanian newspaper I found amusing. However, Theresa, I do not find your patronizing and condescending replies to me amusing at all. Heavy artillery of the American soul, indeed....
: Chris, thank you for your deadpan right to the point reply. I did enjoy that one :)
: Matter closed as far as I'm concerned.
: Ilse
Excuse me, but what did I do that was offensive or overwrought? I just simply weighed in with my opinion on this editorial, which I'd already received in the mail from about seven people, enjoyed immensely, and I gave the same opinion each time.
So much for being able to express one here, I guess.
Happy trails...
Christina
