Dear all -
Elaine, I hope you heard the news that I heard, that many people did indeed get out of those towers. My prayers are with you and everyone else who knew people working there, not the least of which would be all the firemen going UP while the people were going down.
Thankfully, I am not working in the city today. Phone use is almost non-existent although both my mother and Major Mike were able to reach me after many tries. One friend had to call my mother in Denver to see if I was OK. Seamus emailed me because he could not get through.
I first heard -- in the most profound shock -- at 10:00. If I had thought about it, I could have driven just three miles east of my house to the Hudson River, and there on the heights above the river I would have had a stunning view of the World Trade Center. And no doubt I would have seen the towers fall. As "interesting" as that would have been, I'm so grateful I did not think to do that. Soon, I will get in the car, though, and go to see the new NYC skyline. I'll report back if I do.
This is truly beyond belief!!
: I don't know what to say right now. These terrorist actions are a National tragedy. In fact, it may have hit home ...
: All I know is that Elaine's brother, Domenick, father of 4, works in the World Trade Center in my home, NYC. He called to say he was ok ... then the phone went dead ... I don't know what happened ...
