Nah ... only kidding ... just following up on Huggy's thought ... though I DO like stuff that goes "bang!"
Good morning ... Not too much to say this week, but I did want to pass this along as we try to determine the status of 2002 Great Mohican Gathering ...
Right now, we have 47 E-mail addresses newly signed up for our mailing list. That represents roughly 90 people, several of whom are "newbies." Not a bad start, and surely proof to me that there is interest in another.
Some itinerary-related comments:
"... looked over your proposed schedule and like the looks of it (particularly doing Chimney Rock on the first day). The rafting trip sounds like a lot of fun as well."
"I really like the Nolichucky idea--I think that would be great. Actually I like the whole itinerary."
"It ALL sounds great, especially the Biltmore."
"I love the tentative schedule. Don't change a thing."
"Love the whitewater rafting idea! Can I go even if I can't swim? And I'm glad to hear the Biltmore is in again."
"A Gathering??? Hmmmm, never heard of it, sounds like fun!!!;-)"
"The shortened day at Ch. Rock Park would be fine with me since I've been there several times. The horseback riding, dinner and concert are well worth repeating ... I LOVE the rafting idea - please, please pursue this one!!"
"That whitewater rafting trip looks quite spectacular, you know :)"
"LOVE the white water rafting idea....have wanted to do that for EVER...fabulous! I like the idea of CRP and the potluck dinner in particular being on the first day....the dinner and mingling was a big highlight last time round for me...so thumbs up to that."
And there you have it! Just about everyone who has responded liked the proposed agenda. Of course, we haven't quite figured out what to do on Sunday ... not that there aren't good choices available. If we proceed, the whitewater deal will definitely be a part of it. For one thing, we've never done that before. Secondly, you've all voted overwhelmingly in the affirmative on that. Thirdly, we've found the guy who accompanied Michael Mann on that scout & shoot, and he just so happens to work with one of the rafting outfits up there ... so ...
Dates are another story. Everyone had their opinion & it all split out about 33-33-33% ...
One thing to keep in mind, as the itinerary stands right now, this figures to be the most expensive Gathering, though Sunday figures to be a "free" day, cost-wise. Usually, we have 2 of those ... Linville Gorge & Dupont Forest last year, for example. But, it all seems well worth it, each individual "event" being reasonably priced.
So, are you ready for some Football? Season begins today!
