: If you will look closely, Magua has his tomahawk by the head, with the handle running up his arm, hidden by the blanket wrapped around his arm. Just before he moves into position, he lets it slide down so he can grab the end of the handle. This is not a "telecoping" tomahawk. We call it movie magic. Hahaha

: : Now I know there's a lot of attention to historical accuracy in the movie.  (OK, so Chingachcook's gunstock warclub is a bit on the large size.)

: : This telescoping tomahawk is unusual, to say the least, and gimmicky--I can't imagine it would be in there if there weren't some pretty sound historical provenance.
