Thank you Sarah,
That was my question!! Now the next question would be, Why with the many pleas from fans, to have the love scene added, the request was not granted? It's the fans who buy the videos and DVDs. Now the ending makes so much more sense to me! (But why do anything that makes sense, I guess?) My thinking is that FOX will wait for some anniversary of the film, and then release another expanded edition with the missing love scene. And of course we'll buy it. See! I wasn't crazy! I knew there was more to the relationship between Alice and Uncas than what was portrayed on screen.
Thanks again, Genevieve
: Ah, to answer the ONE question you already asked, the answer, as is in Eric Schweig's interview, is that there is more filmed than we see in the released version. We were hoping to have that added back in the DVD but it didn't happen. Serious problem there!!! Anyway, read the interviews with Eric (found via the home page).
: Cheers,
: Sarah M., and other Uncas/Alice fan
: : Hello Everyone!
: : You probably won't believe this, but I just discovered this website last night. It kept me up until 1:00 am (I have to get up for work at 5:00!) First of all, I'd like to thank those of you who maintain this site. It is wonderful! And though I know this subject has already been slashed, stabbed, and thrown off of a cliff numerous times, I feel I must speak on this. I saw this film in the theater when it was first released and I can still remember my first thought when the movie ended. "They are not telling us the REAL love story here. Something is missing." I did not even know that scenes between the characters of Uncas (deep, drooling sigh!)and Alice were cut out until I read it here. But even back then I just knew that something wasn't being told. So, my question to anyone willing to answer is this... Is there a 1992 version of this film that contains the edited "love scene" and if so, how can I get my grubby little hands on it? Please forgive me if this has already been addressed, but I just couldn't stay up any later to find out!! I appreciate any responses. Thank you, Genevieve
