I think Fort Toulouse is one Clabert goes to but he'll have to comment on that. Whether he does or not, the old forts are great places to go!

I thought I would mention that a fabulous monthly newspaper covers F&I (plus Celtic, Rev War, and War of 1812) events across the country (e.g., where are Morgan's Rangers fighting behind the cactus in southern California this month??). For those interested in knowing what's in their area, it's a great resource. You can subscribe at http://www.smoke-fire.com/.

Also, I know Rich and Elaine keep up a good list of F&I events but for the life of me, I can't remember where -- I can't keep up with this site it's so amazingly BIG!! If I go look for it now, I'll get lost reading something, and then go to bed very late entirely forgeting I was going to post this post. Rich, Elaine?? HELLLP!!

: Hello to everyone. Hope this finds all well. While browsing through my Sunday paper, I find that there is a lot going on in my state in the month of September. I'm not sure how many of you are within driving distance, however, here goes:

: Sept. 1.....Creek Homecoming. Brantley/Luverne. Drummers, dancers, storytellers, Native American food and crafts.

: Sept. 8.....Natural History Workshop: Native American Twining Techniques. Tuscaloosa. Participants weave bags, straps, mantles and even mats. Twining is the simplest form of weaving and is more than 9,000 years old.

: Sept. 15 and 16.....Cherokee Pow Wow. Valley Head. (Sequoyah Caverns). Native American food, crafts and tribal dancing.

: Sept. 15 and 16.....French Colonial Living History. Wetumpka (Fort Toulouse). Re-creation of the daily life styles of 1750's French soldiers, families, and Native Americans. (I'M AT THIS ONE! ABOUT AN HOUR FROM MY HOUSE)

: Sept. 28 and 29.....Dancing Rabbit Creek Treaty Pow Wow. Mount Vernon. Competition dancing, arts and crafts, exhibits.

: Sept. 28 and 29.....DeSoto Caverns Indian Dance and Crafts Festival. Childersburg. American festival featuring singing, dancing, and storytelling, Indian and country crafts. (I'm at this one, too, because it's about 20 minutes from my house.)

: So, you can see, there's plenty going on here. Anyone interested just email and I'll try to give you more info.
