: Hello, can you tell me what regiments (batalions or companys) are involved during the siege of Detroit? I'm sure for the 60th et the rangers of Rogers, but I have a doubt about the 80th light.
Hi Eric,
I found a little more information on the units. According to Fred Anderson in "Crucible of War", when Ponitac began the seige of Fort Detroit on 9 May 1763, the commander, Major Henry Gladwin, had 125 redcoats (unit not given) and 40 traders. By June, Ponitac had around 900 men from six tribes. Captain James Dalyell lead a relief force that reached Detroit on 28 July. Anderson states that this force was composed of 260 men and included companies from the 55th, 60th, and 80th Regiments plus a detachment of Rangers under Major Robert Rogers. He does not give any more information about which companies these were. Dalyell lead a sortie of 247 men on 31 July into an ambush at Bloody Run that resulted in loss of himself and 23 others. The seige ended on 15 October.
It is a start. Maybe someone else has more detailed information.
