The weapon that your are speaking of is referred to as a "war club", the one made for Chingauchgook (Pictured above) was created by Jim Yellow Eagle. he was the assistant property master for "Forward Pass" the production crew of LOTM. Jim created 2 real wood and steel blade clubs for the filming. The original weapons (1757 period) were created from musket stocks that were broken during battle which is evident in their "gunstock shaped" profile. Native Americans added flint and steel blades to create these weapons. Their were dozens of different war club designs in "Last of the Mohicans", Jim created most of them.
