: In looking through my September issue of "Southern Living" magazine, I came across this article.  The feature story is about Sky Top Orchard located about seven miles south of Hendersonville off of U.S. 25 on Pinnacle Mountain Road.  Did we pass this orchard on our way to the waterfalls?  I distinctly remember passing some orchards but when I looked in my program guide for the Gathering, I didn't see Hwy. 25 mentioned.  Anyway, the article tells about going to the orchard and picking your own apples which sounds like it would be a fun family outing.  The Annual North Carolina Apple Festival is August 31-September 3 but the orchard is opened daily from August-December.  Web site information: http://www.ncapplefestival.org.
