Hi Rich,
It appears our Montcalm has a penchant for shocking. The first thing I ever heard about him after LOTM (or aside from LOTM) was that he was responsible for a very avant garde production of Wagner's Ring Cycle (or one of them) in the 70s or early 80s, using very strange staging and costuming. It was quite shocking and I remember reading about it some time after the fact, and thinking, "yuck, I would NOT have wanted to see that!", and that was before I ever saw LOTM. Finding out after watching LOTM that that opera producer was our Chereau was shocking too. And now this ... well, it takes all kinds!!

If anyone confesses to seeing it, they're mighty brave (for seeing it and confessing to seeing it).

: I mean I LOVE Patrice Chereau ... but a 35 minute "unbroken" sex scene???? One of the reasons (one of the VERY many reasons) I love LOTM is its LACK of sex scenes. In its stead, we find tastefully (to my taste) done romance.

: I guess I'm one of the rare people these days who doesn't enjoy sex on film. To me, it is almost always - maybe even plain ALWAYS - unnecessary. Often times, it's downright intrusion. To me, it amounts to little more than voyeurism.

: Oh well, maybe it's just me, but I like it a lot better in the bedroom, behind closed doors! :)
