There was a fuss in Mohicanland.
This place, very likely, will be different from here on in. Maybe not. Time will tell the whole story. History is never really finished. It's only up to the moment.
So, the Board will go on ... for me, it's quite a bit like pulling over in the middle of the night, in the midst of a long drive, when you just can't keep your eyes open any longer. When you awake, and look around, you have no idea where you are, things might look familiar, or they may not, and you might just be surprised. We'll see ...
Nothing has changed. The Board is the Board. I expect it might be a bit more quiet, for a time, but OVER time, it will replenish itself. I will go out on a limb, and let 'er fly. It's like the old line about real love ... I can't think of it's exact wording ... but something to the effect of: Let it go, if it's really love it will return. All are welcome!
Enough has been said, semi-behind-the-scenes, so I'm not going to attempt explanation here. I will only say, we closed the Board with the intention of keeping it closed. That intention did not last long. Those of you who wrote in support brought up many points, and opened MY eyes, at least. Those of you who didn't, brought up others. The Board is re-opened, for better or for worse. Use it ... or not. Enjoy it ... or not. I could thank many of you, and have in e-mails, but two deserve special mention here ... Eric Hurley & Chris Boone. Thanks you two!
We'll be here ... with the lights on. There's to be no grand re-opening or announcement. It's just open. Come on in.
Just a couple of things ... there was some talk of the tune that accompanies this Board, a tune known to us as "Tran-snow-stacks." Well, thanks in large part to some detective work by Vincent, we have tracked down its rightful owner and receieved his permission to use it ... which makes us feel a whole lot better. Trouble is, it was apparently ripped off somewhere along the line & renamed. It's TRUE name is "40," written in celebration of the songwriter's 40th birthday! And now you know ...
One very positive result of having the Board down for a few days was that we learned something very interesting about the Taiwanese posts, and how they do it. Though not visible, because the Board Index was removed, their posts were still appearing on our server. This all explains why we weren't able to sussecfully block them from access. Now, I have an idea ... have to run it by our ISP man & see if it's doable. Meanwhile, you are likely to still see those posts appear.
