: : Hi Christina,
: : The failure of our search for the Ping recipe is most disheartening. I've been wondering why the Major doesn't post on the board, or have I just been missing his posts. Sarah, can you answer that one? The least he can do is give us some opportunity to wheedle the recipe out of him. What thinks you all?

: While you all await the great ping, you might find the following info interesting. You know, the colonials drank a great deal of 'spirites.' {How else would they have kept warm?} Their alcohol consumption, by today's standards, would classify them as potential AA members. Sam Adams was a brewer, Jefferson an avid wine drinker/collector, & Franklin could hardly stop writing on the virtues of the 'healthful drinke.'
That was very interesting, Elaine, and I read every bit of it. However, I still didn't find the recipe for ping. I did find out that I come by my liking for Madeira wine from my ancestors. That Philadelphia party in 1787 must have been something else again (or else the tavern keeper padded the bill quite heavily)!!!
:o)
