: I BEG YOUR PARDON!!! Soldier #1 was pretty well toast by that time so you can't blame him for looking wimpy, although if he had been hale and hearty I'm sure he would have put on a VERY good showing!! But I will NOT ACCEPT any insinuation or other comment even REMOTELY implying Soldier #2 was ANYTHING other than a brave and heroic young man, with every look and gesture clearly exhibiting his determination to protect the Munro daughters. With his life if need be. And he met his end courageously, as you can OBVIOUSLY see!
: WHIMPY!! I DON'T THINK SO!!!!!!!!!!!
GO GET 'EM SARAH!!! Soldier #2 has family here!
As for portaying British soldiers in a "wimpy" fashion: In real life, the British, and later Americans, WERE sometimes ambushed & dispatched much as we witness on the screen while watching LOTM. St. Clair's defeat, in the 1790's Ohio country was the single largest defeat of British or American forces in the Indian Wars. A complete ambush & rout. Were those soldiers wimps? Braddock's Defeat, during the F&I War, though not a true ambush, had similar results ... were George Washington, Daniel Morgan, Thomas Gage, and Daniel Boone - who were all there! - WIMPS? There were many other lesser instances.
As Mark has said, the two privates (one already severly wounded!) were simply excess baggage. The prize in the cave was the officer & Munro's seed!
: : Would the other 2 Redcoats have been murdered in the cave when captured by the Indians? I think the soldiers were made to look to wimpy in this film, just like the Patriot.
