Back in a prior life (i.e. before wife and family), the MacLeod was an actual working actor, with both screen and theater credits. After 1776 finished on Broadway, the MacLeod found employment in one of the touring companies of the show, and made numerous appearances on stage as the Rev. John Witherspoon. He notes that onstage, instead of carrying a Bible, the more appropriate stage prop, he carried instead a copy of Stanislovsky's book on Method Acting....and no, he did not do the movie, having moved on to other venues by the time it was cast!
