Dear John,
Don't get me wrong -- I'm all for celebrating Independence Day. But I also like to remember that there are two sides (or more) to every story. I portray a Loyalist in the Revolution War whose family (like the Rogers') was persecuted and forced to flee to Canada, leaving everything behind that was illegally seized by the states. Only 30% of the population supported independence. If we are going to remember history, let's at least try to remember all of it and not just the pretty parts.
I posted this side of the story because I know people on this board are interested in history and tend to like to know more than is commonly known. So, I just share what I think is a bit of the unknown (at least it was totally unknown to me until I started reenacting). The fun is in these types of details!
