: : We all know the Gathering prompted some great visual moments, but did you know it also spawned its own famous quotations? Just a few I jotted down...

: : First of all, of course, there was the phrase coined by me, The Red-Haired Lass, which preceded my arrival in Chimney Rock and was recited to me by folks I hadn’t even met yet: “I’ll give you mooooooooo-nnnnneeeeyyyy...” Good for wheedling favors out of folks, but not good enough to get the recipe for Ping. 

: : “They’re probably blowin’ the shut-up horn!”  Miss MMMMarcia, on Sunday night, when we heard a car horn blaring in the parking lot shortly after we all had shut down the tiki bar out back

: : “What in the name of the Wee Manny?” A Scots turn of phrase, uttered in surprise by Miss Katie

: : “Do al ittle drugs, drink a little liquor and one morning you wake up dead...” Miss MMMarcia, commenting on what happens if you lead a sordid life on the frontier 

: : “Wake up naked and ready to kill.” Quoted by me, the Red-Haired Lass. Actually, this was my mistaken interpretation of a phrase I heard uttered out at the tiki bar. It was later agree d by the crowd gathered there that this should be the official motto for Bumppo’s Tavern.

: Hi, Christina!  It's good that you were there taking notes.  Some of these jewels must be preserved, sartain.  On thinking back to the first time I heard that one line, though, I remember it actually goes more like, "Drink a little liquor, do a little drugs, and one of these mornings ya wake up DEAD!"  It was something a friend used to say to me about some carousers he predicted would not last long.  Same friend also used to say, "Well...Time don't mean nuthin' to a hawg!"  every time he was late for anything.  And he wrote a very long song in honor of the death of Jim Morrison (who died in a hot bath of a "heart attack"...right.)  It went something like,
: "Riders on the storm,
: You've made this bath too warm,
: It's too hot in here,
: Turn it down, My Dear..."  

: You know...thinking back on it...Mohican Maniacs are pretty normal compared to SOME of the folks I've known!!!
