Hi Rich,

I, also was afraid of the Russians. In our youth we were taught to fear everything Russian.

This year I had the good fortune to travel there. I was not looking forward to it, as I pictured it as very grey and cold (lacking in warmth on all levels). Much to my surprise, it was one of the most fantastic journeys I have ever taken. The people are beautiful, warm, friendly, curious, and are in to loving Americans. I gave as gifts, dreamcatchers from the Mohican Store. These gifts were a symbol of the ancient America and the spirituality of the people. These gifts were received with beauty, humility, and deep gratitude, as an expression of the idea "One World, One People".

As an American, I felt more welcomed in Russia, than in any of the European countries I have traveled to. Life is not easy for the people of Russia at this time. It is like a "new frontier" with unlimited possibilities. The people are survivors and have a will to grow and prosper.

To the Russian people I spoke with, the worst thing that has happend to them in their lifetime, was the fall of their Ruble. Two years ago, the bottom fell out of their economy. Many people lost everything they had. It was a new "market based" economy and people had invested for the first time. Can you imagine???? What is amazing though, is the will to "survive anything", that exists in the minds of the population, and the willingness to pick up the pieces and start again.

Red Square, as I was taught to fear as a child, means "beautiful sqare", and it is just that! A beautiful place to be and walk with the people. The KREMLIN, which of course, always sent shivers down our spines, is a beautiful walled mideval village in the center of Moscow. It is filled with beautiful Orthodox Churches and exquisite museums. The goverment offices are within the wall, and we were free to explore inside. We also ate a beautiful meal inside the Kremlin.

I could go on and on, but I will stop here. I thought this was a good time to insert a Russian comentary, following Rich's post.

I have missed all of you. It is rare that I have been able to go up on the Board, due to a tremendous work load. But thankfully, I have had this time. I will try to come more often.

I have missed you all!

Blessings everyone,

Ayesha
