Are you sure, Eric? Joanne used to live on Highway 18, or on Lenoir Road. The highway between Table Rock and Morganton is 181. Perhaps she has moved, and taken the name of her house with her. Hmmm. Oh well, I'm always behind the times! I do remember Greystone because my father used to deliver the mail there. It was near Carl Duckworth's shetland pony farm. Really attractive cottage-like house. Small world.
An aside here --- trivia --- but Joanne Denton once posed nude for Penthouse, I believe it was, with a skull as prop!

: Last gathering, I mentioned to Soldier #2, being that he was from Morganton, that my great aunt had lived in a house on Hwy 18 between Table Rock and Morganton. I described the house, a stone cottage called "Greystone", and he replied, "WHAT?...that's where Joann Denton, the Morganton witch lives!" I had spent many an early birthday at this house on the stone back patio, dressed in little white sailor suits (I don't know WHY my aunt did that!), eating vanilla ice cream out of bright red glass dessert cups with our cake. Now to think that a WITCH lived there was unsettling to say the least.
: Imagine my surprise to find this "witch" listed in NORTH CAROLINA CURIOSITIES by Jerry Bledsoe described as *the world's most famous witch*. And right there, in the book, is a picture of my aunt's lovely stone cottage, now re-named "Grey Shadows". Apparently, in the '70's she had made national news by predicting the untimely death of friend, she also professes to practice only white witchcraft.
: So-o-o-o-o-o-o, on our trek down (if we go that way) from Table Rock toward Lake James, we will pass by the house, on the left, of the *WORLD'S MOST FAMOUS WITCH*
: The days to go,
: Are 28.
: When we get there,
: Won't that be great!
