S.O.S. - Ariel's Cabin In Crisis Situation!!!

: 1.  To all those wonderful, generous citizens of Mohicanland who have pledged donations to 'Ariel's Cabin' - may I throw myself on your mercy and beg for your assistance!!

: Due to a very serious - nay, MAJOR, computer failure (whereby my hard drive decided it could no longer work with me - and promptly died!), every single file I had ever put together, has been totally annihilated - no correspondence, no holiday insurance policy, no Ariel's Cabin "paperwork" - NO NUTHIN!!!

: I grant you, in the 'normal' scheme of things, my memory is usually... just a memory!  Now, I DO believe that I remember pretty much who the generous Donors were - and what they would be donating, come June.  HOWSEVER!!  Just to keep me right - and JUST IN CASE I have overlooked anyone, could I humbly beg you to drop me an email with details of your respective, prospective donations??!! MUCH OBLIGED, I'M SURE!!!

: 2.  Now, this would seem to be the perfect opportunity to, perhaps, encourage - Okay, BEG! (I'm 'big' enough to do that!) that any other prospective Gatherers, pledge a donation to Ariel's Cabin.

: Let me just remind you of the purpose of 'the Cabin'.  Well, Ariel's Cabin is Mohicanland's method of raising money to help with the medical expenses of our little 'mascot', Ariel Boutette.  Now, Ariel was born with a condition known as Anophthalmia.  In simple terms, Ariel was born with no eyes.  She was also born with a twisted spine, sequestered lung and backward aorta - doesn't seem fair to cop all that, does it?  Yet, I have it on good authority that this beautiful little girl, with the smile as radiant as a rising sun, has a personality to match and is as contented as a child could be. That's in spite of pain, countless visits to hospital, much surgery and a medical future that would make most of us give up.  

: This little girl will never *see* what we are going to see, in June.  She won't ever see our favourite film, 'Last of the Mohicans'.  She will never, ever see that fantastic vista spread up before us when we stand at the 'top of the world' or on the CRP cliff trails, no gazing at Wes Studi..., no Lacrosse game and what use a Glammie Shammie Loinclothe Lever, when you can't even SEE under... (Ooops, sorry!! SORRY!!! *whew!!* Got a leeeetle carried away!)  Heck, she'll never, ever see the prettiest sight of all - those she loves best in the whole world, her family.  

: What she WILL have is expensive surgery to aid the correct formation of her cranial bones and orbital sockets, to reduce the chances of incorrect cranial bone formation, which may interfere/put pressure on her brain.  She will very likely require surgery to correct the twisting of her spine... In other words, hospitals and pain will very much feature in her future.  That's bad enough. 

: But, on top of that, the cost of all this surgery will be prohibitive and will be a constant drain on this family's resources.  And they will pay it - they'll want their daughter to get the best and as much treatment as she will require - that she deserves to get.  They will want their child to have every chance she can get, to have a fulfilled and happy life, free from as much disability as possible. Not a lot to ask, really.  It's what we ALL ask, for our own kids.  It's a huge burden for the Boutettes, but one which, hopefully, none of us has to or WILL have to, carry. (Pretty humblin', isn't it.) Now - THAT'S where WE, Mohicanland, come in.  We CAN help, here.  

: If each of us donates a little something - then buys a little something, we ALL help this family!  It's simple, it's effective, it's painless - for us.  But, it eases someone else's load.
