Above: Your answer to our now closed first poll ... "Which Mohican Press Interview Did You Most Enjoy?" (or something like that!)

Personally, and in retrospect, my own personal favorite would have to be the Wes Studi interview. It flowed best, I think, and was the most comprehensive. I would say that the Eric Schweig interview was our worst (and first) effort ... a bit stiff. Anyway ...

Here's our monthly stat highlights, for the benefit of Kate ...

Actually, these first two represent trend over years ...

Most visited day? Tuesdays
Most visited hour? Lunchtime ... between 11 & 1 EST

April's Most Visited Pages (not counting the Board or Home Page):

1 - History & the Last of the Mohicans Menu Page
2 - Photo Gallery Index
3 - Ishi: A Real Life Last of the Mohicans
4 - "We've Caught Them Napping" - The Battle of Little Bighorn (from our Against All Odds Site)
5 - Table of Contents
6 - The Complete Script Menu Page
7 - Colonial Era Photos
8 - Eastern Woodland Indians
9 - The Eric Schweig Gallery
10 - Mohican Press Screen Captures (Menu)
11 - James Fenimore Cooper Bio
12 - How To Purchase The Book
13 - Fort William Henry: The Seige & Massacre
14 - Authentic Killdeer Replicas
15 - Under The Make-Up Tent
16 - From The Ramparts: Fort William Henry "Live" Reports
17 - Uncas & Alice DVD Screen Captures
18 - What's New?
19 - Eric Schweig: An Interview (Part One)
20 - Mohican Musings Index

That's out of a total of 381 Internet pages.

Most visited Gathering-related page? Well, of course that's the 2001 Gathering info page, which actually ranks very high ... would appear in the top 30 if I were to carry this that far. Other than that one, though, it would be the 1999 Gathering Recap Page.

Most accessed image? (not counting "firebars" & "feathers" and stuff like that) - One of the "Alice" images from our screen captures ... that's out of over 1500 images on our Site!

Most watched video? The 1992 Theatrical Trailer, followed closely by Eric Schweig Displays A Mask, and the DVD Closing Scene.

Most accessed of our downloadable sound clips? Chingachgook's "Great spirit & the maker of all life," followed by Hawkeye's "I will find you ..." and Cora's "It is more deeply stirring to my blood ..."

Most listened to track in our Listening Room? "The Courier" from the original motion picture soundtrack.

Finally, the most read post from the Archives? http://www.mohicanpress.com/wwwboard/messages11/25025.html
(Note: A total coincidence that it just happens to be this post. I was surprised!)

Ok ... enough of that ...

Where are we going? I think we are going to radically change, and soon. This will be, hopefully, in conjunction with the release of our "Mohicanlander's Companion Guide." It will be, I think, (notice I keep saying 'I think'. Two reasons, one, because I can, and two, because we're still hashing it out.) changes for the better, though I am sure there will be those who feel otherwise & might be disappointed. We feel, though, that the proposed changes are in order, overdue, and will set us on the right path again.

One thing we will definitely be doing is overhauling the entire Site's structure, look, and feel. Remember, this Site kept growing & growing from a tiny little skeleton that was designed with no idea of the expansion to come. We just kept piecing this here and that there ... devising indexes and other navigational "tools" to try to lend some coherence. Really, though, I'm not sure how it looks from out there, but from here it's quite the hodge-podge. Re-organization, now that we have a feel for the complete picture, is a must. Some out-of-date, or little used, areas will probably be swept away in the process ...

Why tie it in with the Companion Guide? Well, we only will if it is possible, time-wise, for us. But we will try, because like the first book, the Guide Book, was tied in with our original version of the Web Site, so too will this new volume be related to the "new" Web Site ...

There'll be some closure, I think ... Huh? Ha Ha Ha Ha! That's what I thought over 4 years ago when we put out "On The Trail Of The Last Of The Mohicans" ... I crack myself up! Oh well ...

The Companion Guide will go hand in hand with its predecessor. Same fonts, same basic structure. It is, though, not a guide book, in the sense the first one was. No photos, no color (except, of course, the covers) ... just text. We will completely tie in the first booklet with a section devoted just to the film locations, following on the trail of the first book (with page link-ups), and giving more detailed information, NEW information, and anecdotes & fun stuff related to my On The Trail search. There'll be complete & updated accommodation listings, too. But, this is just a small portion of the book. The rest will be the entire journey ... from beginning to end & everything we can think of inbetween. Some will be from you. Some is culled from the Web Site. A lot is new & original. Much is satire; much is quite serious. Mostly, it'll be both, simultaneously. The two books together ought to provide the most comprehensive "study" of 1992's "The Last of the Mohicans" ever to be available in print ... at least as far as our involvement with it is concerned. Which, when you think about it, is considerable!

Is it for you? I don't know. We don't expect this to be a best-seller, to be sure. I think it will sell only a fraction of what the first book has sold ... but it will bring everything up to date, and be, I think, a treasure trove of information & anecdotes from the past years. Gatherings, locations, behind-the-scenes, the web site/Internet experience ... It's written for us, some might call that self-indulgence - oh well - for that closure I mentioned before. But it's also written for you, to help you understand and provide a laugh or two. Anyone out there who is a fan of the film and who has not been a part of this Internet show also ought to fully enjoy it ... maybe more so than the rest of us.

And so it goes ...

Wait till you see the neat little flag designed for our cars at the Gathering! If the designers decide to, maybe it'll be unveiled here!

Sign up now folks ... now or never! It's but a month & a half away!
