John,
Your starting point should be this website. You might enjoy the historical study first, as it offers a lot on the history of the French and Indian War and the people who were key players, including Montcalm, Monro, etc. It also offers good information and links to more information about the Indians involved. It offers a HUGE list of links for books and so on, as well as links to other resources. I strongly encourage you to spend time here, start with the home page and move on from there. The book resource list that one could offer you is vast, but if you want to start with any, start with Parkman's "Montcalm and Wolfe". It is superb.
If you are interested in specific details of the history or culture that aren't cover there, pose them and many of the reenactors, artisans, historians, and other experts on this site can help you with those details.
Kind regards,
Sarah M.
: My brothers and dad and I had a poll when we gathered last Christmas about the best movies of all time. Last of Mohicans made the top twenty easily. I understand the movie took some liberties with the book, but after reading Deerslayer I can forgive the screenwriters. I think I will still read LOM though, the descriptions and the Iroquoi culture facinate me. I went to the library and got more books on the subject. Has anyone here any resources more on the period and subject of our history?
: I saw the end of something on TV a few months ago. It looked like one of the leather-stockings tales and had who I thought was Kevin Dillon as a younger Hawkeye. Do you know anything about that?
