: : I maybe wrong here, and I do apologize if I am. But on the "Some of Our Favorite Shots" page, has a picture of Major Duncan Hayward burning. Now, he did a very courageous act, so I find it odd that a man doing such an act of bravery has ended up on your favorite page, at least in a picture of him suffering. So I am therefore concluding its because he was British therefore suggesting he deserved what he got?
: : If I had a site with Japanese soldiers condemning US Marines to bamboo cane torture with the title "Some of My Favorite shots" You may indeed think I was anti-American. Like I said above, if I am indeed wrong I apologize.

: Dear Ben,
: Duncan's being British has nothing to do with the fact that the shot of his burning is a favorite. It is one of the most highly dramatic and emotionally tearing scenes of the movie, and it is the culmination of Steven Waddington's fine acting throughout the film.
: If you were to scan back over the many discussions of Waddington's role in the Board Archives, you would find the posts are heavily sympathetic with his heroic sacrifice, and I daresay, nary a one cheering because the "Brit deserved what he got".

And Ben,
In addition to Gayle's post, FYI, keep in mind that at that period in time, the British were the "good guys" in the colonies!
Sorry, it's just a history headsup!
