My Dear Sir,
I am most sympathetic to your concerns, for, you would not know this, but I am part Scot myself, being a descendant of the Clan Murray of Atholl through my late Maternal Grandmother Molly Craig. I will also add, if you will keep this to yourself, that while we traders must take care of whom we outwardly align ourselves, I will say that I was always sympathetic to the cause of the Scots and rather favoured the Bonnie Prince. A dreadful affair that was, to be sure.
And kindly note that I am resident in the American wilderness for a reason rather than in the English homeland. I am sure your military service around the Colonies has introduced you to Scots who moved here many years ago, those straight from the Highlands and those Ulster Scots who are still Scots are heart.
Knowing that you have no proof of what I profess in the above confession, I will be pleased to have your man inspect my wares at Fort Frederick, at his leisure, and again at the LOTM Gathering 2001 Trading Post, where I understand many of the MacWilliam clan also will be found, later in June.
I remain, as always,
YOHS,
English Trader

: We Scots are very suspicious of trades with the Sassenach (English) and trust not your ways (remembering Culloden Moor), but will gladly meet with you as comrades who serve the same King and Country. I would , however, be asking to inspect your wares before you do any trading with my men and, to be sure, 1st Sgt. Campbell will be wanting to do the same. Until we meet at the Fair.....
: God Save the King....Pax Aye!
