Re: LOTM line in Meet The Parents

: : : I may be crazy (some of you are saying "may be?, I think yes be!")but in watching Meet The Parents, Ben Stiller has a line to Deniro's character's wife that just rang out LOTM to me. Jack (Robert Deniro) has been supposedly *caught* in an act of espionage by Stiller in which Stiller overheard a conversation in Thai. He points this out to the crowd of family witnessing the conversation and Jack's wife Dina replys," Jack doesn't talk Thai". Then Stiller says "On no Dina, Jack talk Thai...very well". This was said with the familiar inflection of "Magua said, understand English...very well". Has anyone else seen this movie (pretty funny by the way) and did you have the same deja vu I did? I believe Stiller has made references to LOTM before and I know some folks think he even looks like DDL. For myself, I can see the resemblence but he is BY NO MEANS a DDL!

: :   Yes we saw the movie and thought it was very funny.  There is a small resemblence to DD-L, but you're right, Stiller is not a DD-L.  Deniro was great.  I don't recall the line.  Guess I will have to watch it again.

: Yep, I finally saw the movie just a couple weeks ago. It was pretty funny after the first half hour or so -- although if I had been Ben Stiller there would have been NO WAY I would have married into that family of weirdos.But anyway, yes,I noticed that line and thought it DID have Magua like inflection. And nope, Stiller is in no way even close to DDl except maybe in the nose.
