: : : We have returned to the stockade without incident, and all members of the party are safe. The body of the Tavern Keeper's daughter has been turned over to the townfolk for burial preperation. She was evidently not well liked by all, due to her flirtatious manner, but the ceremony is being planned as if she were a hero. Matthias used the term "Martyr" at one point to describe the part she played in our dealings with Red Bud.

: : : Malcom's cold seems to be improving, as does the weather. He should be back with us in a few days. This day turned out to be warm and sunny, and all of the snow has melted. We saw Robins for the first time yesterday. It was ironic to see them, being one of the signs of Spring and Rebirth, on our journey to retrieve the Lass's body. Maybe we have seen the last of the snow and cold for now.

: : : It seems that Drummer Armstrong and Seamus have been having words. During the trip out and back, they did nothing but chide each other. The argument is over supplies that were to be placed near a tree, but not found by Seamus, Many Flags and ThreeTales. Captain Croy will, no doubt, get involved to squelch the quarrel. It does not seem to be a serious affair, but the subject lingers on.

: : : I must go on watch tonight, and there is little moonlight since Sunday last was the night of the New Moon. At least it is warmer tonight, but that generally means rain is on the way from the West.

: : Davey,
: : Although Seamus and I were at odds on the way out and back,
: : our bitterness came to an end apon our return. For the thief had unknowingly made his guilt known directly in view of Seamus and myself, for what he overlooked was that the haversack that I placed the supplies in was my extra, and just under the flap, I embroidered my initials, ever so small, but still very visible to it's owner and it's owners trusted friends!! And now, Seamus and I are conspiring together, along with some others in the Regt.to get this scoundrel to slip up and confess his missdeed before Capt. Croy! We must get him to confess to the Capt. directly, for military protocol forbades Enlisted to cast defiance on an officer! For you see, the thief is none other than............

: Drum Major Amstrong

: Montgomeries, Gren Coy
: Raestown Stockade

: Friend Edward,

: I have sat up most of last night trying to conjure up a way to pin our thief to the wall, and it came to me as brilliant as a summer sun! While it is true that an enlisted man cannot make a complaint against this scoundrel, I am not an enlisted man. I have no rank in the army, nor does the army have any hold on me, Flags, Tales, HalfBreed, Dink or any of the others! We can set up the man with a well placed stratagem and catch him good.

: I have devised a plan for the trap. I will tell you of this plan privately. Only you and I will know it. The fewer involved, the less likely it will inadvertantly slip out and ruin the surprise. I will guarantee you success!

: Tonight after tattoo, meet me near the cistern, and I will tell you of the plan.

: No one but us is to know of this...see to it.

: Seamus

Gee, I hate it when someone does this 'half a secret' stuff!! Oh c'mon, Seamus, you can tell US! We won't tell anyone else, we promise!
