:  Message to be delivered to Davey and Malcolm at Raestown by Sly Fox

:   Davey and Malcolm,

:   Sly will fill you in on the details, but needless to say we have more evidence of Red Bud's savage hatred for the white race. Dink and i will stay out another day or two before coming to the stockade. We ran down a doe this morning in the deep snow, and now have meat. With the little corn meal and jerked venison we have, we will have sufficient victuals 'til week's end. Besides, there is only the two of us, and we "eat small".

:   There is a solemn duty we must attend to before we move from this place. As i eluded at the start of this message, Red Bud has struck again. We found a female stripped naked and staked face down in the snow. There was blood everywhere, but none was her's. She was dead, but not injured or mamed in any way. Upon her body, written in blood, was the name "MacWilliam" and several cryptic signs. A chicken foot was lying near by, which must have been used to write the name and symbols. We examined the body and found no trace of wound or bruise. It is hard to imagine the ceremony that had been performed on her, but we feel she died of fright.

:   She had been a middle age lass with black raven hair, a hauntingly attractive face and pleasant form. 'Tis such a shame to waste a handsome example of the female species. She had on no jewelry, but then the natives could have taken it as they did with all her clothing.

:   We will not bring her with us, but put her in the ground here. This will keep the varmits from her. If she is a member of the Raestown community, she can be recovered for proper burial.

:   We will continue the search for this fiend, but are also aware of being outnumbered. One well placed shot and a clean escape will bring us to the safety of Raestown.
