: : Couldnt think of anything to add to the menu, then yesterday it came to me. If nobody has thought of it, my addition will be......da da...my famous colonial Chestnut Soup. Seems fitting given the main course. Easy to make, has a colonial flavor, and should go well with the main course.

: Dear Bill,
: Please excuse my ignorance, but I come from the land of coconuts and oranges, so what do *I* know from chestnuts! But, my question is...is June chestnut season? Or does one have to have a supply of chestnuts left from the previous year? Or can one go chestnutting about the mountainsides? Hmmmmmmm??? Or can you substitute some "balled" peanuts? Nawth Carolina PEEcans?? Goober peas?
: I just don't know!

MMMMMarcia,
I have these warty things growing on my chest. In abundance. When I have Bettygnome scab them off, we call them nuts and use the phrase "Betty needs to go nutting again" as a polite way to say that she needs to do that particular surgery on my chest again. We save them up. They make great soup!
MMMMarcia........dear.........you HAVE heard of tin cans right?
You can get chestnuts and chestnut puree in cans these days.
I mean, if you can ROYALTY in cans these days (Prince Albert) then why not chestnuts?
