But if'n all you wanted to do was verify if this ill-tempered thing in your cage - er, I mean longhouse - is truly Doc Mary you only had to say to her "Is it true that Gnomes are much smarter than you could ever hope to be?"  If this snarling bedraggled heathen woman held up a single finger in reply, you could have kept all 10 of YOUR fingers and been certain it was, indeed, Doc Mary.
